I was born in Georgia and raised on “good” Southern cooking. It would take 35 years before I realized just how “good” it was not. But over the past few years, I’ve discovered just how “good” it really can be. Oh, and for the record, I am part of Goldens’ Foundry & Machine Co., where we produce the Goldens’ Cast Iron Cooker. So, I’m not going to go overboard here trying to sell you a grill, but I’d be lying if I told you it wasn’t the best cooker in town.
I was introduced to the Paleo lifestyle a few years ago. Though I’m not serious about it, as my Dad would say, I have reaped many of the benefits of this approach to eating and living. There is something about it that just made sense, even if you dismiss the premise altogether. The premise being our distant ancestors lived healthy long lives (if they didn’t get gored by a woolly rhinoceros) and avoided many of the modern day diseases directly tied to the SAD (Standard American Diet) diet. But a lifestyle based on eating healthy whole foods, sitting down less, walking more, lifting heavy stuff, running occasionally, and getting enough sleep sounds like good sound advice from grandma, maybe even my grandma 10,000 times removed.
